Boccefest 2005!?!

Ladies,
Gentlemen,
Ladies & Gentlemen.

Tomorrow, April 23rd, is the first annual Boccefest 2005.
It will be the last annual Boccefest 2005, as well.

Location: IM Fields
Time: Noon til 3pm
Mood: Euphoric
Tone: Hearty

There will be free food, in the form of subs, and there will be music, in the form of a boombox. Bring your dancing shoes, bring your bocce-ing shoes, and don't bring any shoes if it rains, as the event will not happen in the latter case.

We'll have shiny new bocce balls for use, so come prepared to roll.

As for next week, we will be practicing Monday, the 25th at 5pm. In sunken gardens. At this meeting, we'll be electing new officers and unveiling the t-shirt design. Your humble-at-times Prime Ministers have reached the end of their tenure, and must find successors. There will be other positions opening as well, and we shall select those at the 5 spot on Monday.

Our parting word is:
shoebox.

Your Basic Bocce Email (YBBE)

This Email represents the culmination of all those aches and pangs that you've felt over these last days and weeks. Yes, the minutes have felt like hours, but Spring has finallly arrived in Colonial Williamsburg. With this change of season we bring a revitalizing report--
The Order of the Bocce will reconvene within the confines of the Sunken Gardens at 5pm today, Thursday, March 3rd. Now, we know what you're going to say,
"I was planning on going to the Caf Love Finale Dinner at 6pm...This is perhpas the most convenient meeting time for Order of the Bocce EVER!"
And, you are right.
Don't forget your quarter dues, and bear in mind that we'll be discussing t-shirts, taking our yearbook photos and planning new officers. All that and more can be yours if you'll just come rekindle the fire that you feel burning in your belly for bocce ball.

Love,
The ever-still-humble Prime Ministers,
Ryan and Adam

bocce: back by popular demand

So. we took a little break there. Chaulk it up to frigid temperatures (along with tempermental bocce balls that demand warm weather). The important thing is that Order of the Bocce is back. We're not talking William Shatner-level-comeback album, either; think Wayne's World 2-type comeback (that one's for you big greg).

The Order of the Bocce is already regaining momentum. Your humble prime ministers played through 3 inches of snow, we hope you have all shown the same dilligence to the cause. Up a bit further North, at Brown University, aka "The William and Mary of Rhode Island," The Order has spawned a new chapter. A former WMer has found inspiration through our blood, sweat, and bocce balls, and has started The Order of the Bocce: Brown. Now -that- is a holiday present for us all. We'll keep you updated as we continue to cause undue influence on campuses across the nation, and eventually, the globe.

An event that we'd like to pass along as well is William and Mary's 1st Annual Lebowskifest. What is this event, you wonder? In an event co-sponsored with UCAB, we'll be holding a screening of The Big Lebowski in UC Commonwealth on February 19th, at around 11pm. Further details to follow, but keep the date open. Also, make sure you've got a robe to wear to the screening. Seriously, we want to see large groups of people walking across campus in robes walking to this event. So do that.

Finally- there will be a New Year's game the week we're all back at school, so prepare your A-game accordingly.

We thank you for taking the time to indulge our musings,
as always,
humbly,with love,
and sincerity,

Adam Gismondi + Ryan HodumCo-P.M,OOTB + Co-P.M, OOTB

P.S.- thanks go out to one of our club alums, Megan Selheim, who sent me an article on the growth of bocce this summer about Bocce from Newsweek, which was finally delivered to my csu about 2 weeks ago. I tried to find a link to said article for your perusal, here's the intro: http://www.keepmedia.com/pubs/Newsweek/2004/09/06/565303

Your one hour fix of blissful bocce

Valued Customers,
great news. We come to you this week with the offer of a lifetime, a chance to play bocce with the Golden Globe award winners (category- Inspirational Fiction) for their Critically lauded film, "Against Gravity." The green carpet event will kick off at 5:30 at William and Mary's own Sunken Gardens.

Invite your friends, or come by yourself;
it's no date party-
for the salubrious love (salubrious is the new 'proverbial').

A unique aspect of this week's Boccaroo '05 is that we will be taking individual pictures for the website and its soon-to-be-specious "membership" page. Come dressed to achieve, impress, bewilder, arouse (in the case of Keith Devereaux), or even execrate if you so desire.

Please bring a bocce set if you have one. Also a quarter for dues. In summation, 5:30. Gardens. Clothes optional. Not a date party, repeat NOT A DATE PARTY.

That's great,

-The Ministers

Boundless Pleasure. Read Forthwith.

LOYAL BOCCE COMMUNITY,

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 29th of this fine September month, we wish to organize an hour long bocce session.
If weather permits we will roll from 5:30-6:30 in the Sunken Gardens.
If weather fails, such is life.

This will be our first meeting in which we will ask for dues (hailing back to our constitution, slated amount is .25 cents) which you will thank us for at the end of the year when subsidized Bocce t-shirts come your way.

Also, input would be strongly appreciated on the issue of outreach. Bocce Outreach. Whimsically referred to as...BO.
We're thinking nursing homes, and maybe elementary schools. Other thoughts?

No pressure. But lets show up this time.
Honestly.
I mean, otherwise we'll be left holding our respective Bocce balls.

Read as you will.
Stare deeply into another's eyes, not this email.

Signed,

Humble Pundits.

Bocce for Beginners

To those whom it must concern,
This is the bocce email.

Our goal is to inform you of future encounters with the bocce. Bocce balls, bocce friends, bocce dreams.

The lowdown on our first gathering: (next)Wednesday (Sept. 15th). 5:30pm. Sunken Gardens.

Now, here's the thing. We've got many people, and some might say many bocce balls. Others might not. That being the case, if you have a set, bring a set. Give a penny, take a penny, kind of like that.

It's taken us some time to get back to you, as your co-prime ministers, we've been busy, much moreso than you. Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-yous. Clearly, though, as your eyes grace this email, you can rest assured that we have returned - larger than life. If you have the means, we highly recommend partaking in the experience. If you have any questions, don't hesitate. We know what you're thinking, and it's true; exhuberance, not clarity, is our intent.

Come and partake in this celebration of life as we're about to know it. Next Wednesday, come ready to roll. Figuratively. Also, check out the website: http://www.wm.edu/so/bocce . News section updated. And we're out.

Coalition of the Willing Bocce Ballers

Dear beloved community,
You've longed for it, as we have, and the time has finally arrived. The Order is back, and we're going to let everyone know about it. Tomorrow night (Tuesday), is the activities fair as you may know. After much deliberation, we've circumstantiated and adumbrated our plan to turn the corner, in the parlance of our times; to take over campus if you will. Bear in mind - this plan will rock you, so brace yourself. At precisely 8pm, we will be holding a press conference at our activity site. Ryan and I will be looking to answer your questions, so that others may learn about the bocce. If you wish to wear any apparel that would seem reporter-like, or journalistic, that might be appreciated. Andrew Otto is the unofficial chair of the press corps, and he now knows this. We need as many people as possible to make this work, and it is imperative that you bring your most creative, perhaps uncouth, questions. Otherwise, your humble prime ministers will be left with pants below their knees, so to speak. We've also filmed a how-to video on the leisure activity of bocce, to play through the duration of the evening. Excitement abounds, undoubtedly moreso for you than us.

Sincerely,

Adam Gismondi and Ryan Hodum

It is with a heavy heart that I email you all again. For this is regarding our last, but record-setting third(3) meeting of the year. Let's get out there and show that we've still got it.

don't be late.
or do be late, either way is fine.

Also, if you were elected to/appointed to/appointed yourself to a position at our last meeting, I need you to email me with the exact title and all that, so I can post officers on teh website. I'll leave you now with a message from my co-prime minister, RN Hodu:
tmwetdog2: "The prime ministership is proud to fly through these perilous times. Bring forth the high water, bring forth the crevass, bring. Much will be done to serve, all but ourselves. The boc is ever present. And as crucial as golf balls.tmwetdog2: "

Bocce and You: Volume 1, Issue II

Greetings fellow purveyors of lawn sports,
This week we will be having our second official meeting, but -- this time we will actually be playing bocce. The place to be will be Sunken Gardens on Thursday, at 5:30pm. If you've got a set, please bring it, we'll all be very appreciative. We're going to forego our normal $.25 dues, since it is just our second meeting, and we don't want to have to keep track of money over the summer. Too much pressure and risk of embezzlement. Also, we'll be doing elections for next semester, so if you want to run for something, I posted the constitution today on the news page of our website so you can see what each position entails.
Speaking of the website, I updated it this week, and it should be updated again next week with actual content by our very own Mr. Hodum. The address is http://web.wm.edu/so/bocce . Check it out when you get a chance, and if anyone wants to contribute their thoughts, pictures, or anything else, send it to me and i'll put it up. Enjoy your weekends, and see you all Thursday if not sooner,
Adam

Message to the Bocce Community

Hello fellow bocceists,
For those of you that were there, this past Thursday was a monumental day for the Commonwealth of Virginia. The first ever meeting for William and Mary's own The Order of the Bocce went off without any issues, and without injury (even through our guest speaker's presentation on cup check week). Campus is talking, and they're saying they want more. This next week, we will continue to build to our organization's already illustrious history. However, since we're not actually having an official meeting this week, this task is up to you. Spread teh bocce in any way you see fit.
I need times that you all would want to play. We're probably only going to have two more meetings this semester, as discussed at last week's info session/extravaganza. A short message would be appreciated, just so that we can see when most people are available.
Also, the last meeting of the semester will be when we have elections for next year's executive board. Don't miss out on that if you want a hand in running the largest organization on campus.1
Finally, don't forget to check out the website (http://web.wm.edu/so/bocce), which is constantly being updated in very slow increments. Have a good holiday and all that,
Adam

P.S.- You're on this mailing list either because you signed up, or Keith or myself added you. If you want out, just reply and let me know. We won't hate you for doing so. If you know anyone who might be interested in joining, please forward emails or info along to them. You can never get enough bocce games going simultaneously.
